Did you see people on the internet all knit the Sailor Slippers and do you want to make your own? Then join this knit along! You will knit some comfy slippers to keep you warm.

In this activity you will make some very big slippers, which will then be felted in a washing machine, which shrinks them and gives them their signature look. Scared of the felting process? Don’t worry, we will felt all of our slippers together to guarantee success.

Do you not know whether you are an intermediate knitter? If you know how to knit and purl, and are excited to learn new techniques, you will be totally fine!

The techniques we will be using are long tail cast on, backwards loop cast on, stockinette stitch, increasing (m1l and m1r) and decreasing (k2tog and ssk) stitches, picking up stitches, seaming (mattress and kitchener stitch), and applied i-cord edge. You do not need to know all of these techniques to join the activity, we will help you with the ones you do not know.

Materials:

• 8 mm circular needles

• yarn (see information below)

The gauge for this project is 12 stitches x 16 rows = 10 x 10 cm in stockinette stitch on 8mm needles before felting, and 15 stitches x 26 rows = 10 x 10 cm in stockinette stitch on 8mm needles after washing and felting. The project uses Drops Snow, because it is made for felting and meets the gauge, but any 100% wool and non-superwash yarn that meets the gauge will work.

The amount of yarn that you will need depends on your size and the amount of colours that you use: 

EU shoe size: 36 (37) 38 (39) 41 (42) 43 (45) 46 (47)

If you want us to order the yarn (Drops Snow), it will cost approximately €1.70-2.15 per ball (depending on sales) and we will order from https://www.hobbydoos.nl/winkel/producten/eskimo-zwart-02-11041.asp . 

In the picture to the left, you can see how many balls of each colour you will need and in the subscription form below you can choose which colours you want and how many balls of each colour. (Check the website we will order from for the availability of the colours.)

We can also provide the knitting needles for a small compensation. The exact total price will be announced later and can be paid upon arrival. 

The cost of this knit along is 1 euro. If you want us to provide the materials for you it will cost 1 euro + the total material price.

Walk-in starts at 19:15, the activity will begin at 19:30.
